About..
this site
‘opinions lol’ is my attempt at a personal mouthpiece for my own views and thoughts on video games, and the industry that creates them. I don’t have the connections or sources to be first with any breaking news, neither do I have the time or disposable income to review a variety of games, and there are already a whole host of good sites dedicated to that sort of content anyway.
No, I can’t compete with that, and that’s not what I’m looking for anyway. Like the majority of others, I use these sites to keep informed of developments and to follow the progress of games, and largely base my decision on whether a game is worth a purchase from this. I also like to follow the industry as a whole, the ideas and titles developers are working on and for who, and generally anything that catches my attention as interesting or noteworthy.
The content that I intend to provide will reflect this; rather than try to be first with news or reviews or whatever, I plan to take a more leisurely approach. I will be looking more to aggregate and reflect on news from the past few days, and throw in some of my own (relatively limited) understanding. Where I’ve played a game that I feel I need to write about, I will do so. If I feel I have something more direct and pointed to say, some form of more focussed analysis, it will be written. I present all of this under the banner of ‘opinions lol’, because I’m under no illusion that my views carry more weight than anyone else’s.
me
Well, I don’t have any bold credentials to my name. I’ve been playing games since I was a child, back on an Amstrad CPC 464, and continued to do so across numerous platforms up to the present day. I’ve also followed the industry on-and-off for the majority of that time. I don’t have the time or money to play every game that I’d like, and not always the ones that I do own to completion, so I like to make sure that if I’m spending money on something, it is a worthwhile purchase. I am also one of those people that considers games to be a potential means for artistic expression, and like to treat them accordingly.
the title
Taken from my primary source of news and discussion (the forums of Penny Arcade), it’s a throwaway expression used to try an end a potentially heated argument based on differing opinions. Everyone has theirs, and their is absolutely no harm in sharing yours with others that are willing to listen, but understand that no one view is more valid than anyone else’s.
